Business Mentoring
In science quote – the editor of Nature, Philip Campbell, expressed the view that the careers of young researchers stand or fall according to the quality of mentoring they receive [1].
In media quote – research by Ellen and Susan Murphy found that perceived similarity on issues such as values and personality affected how much mentors and interns liked one another and race made no difference to the psychosocial support they got [1].
Winners quote – in Australia, Rachel Webster from the University of Melbourne, thinks some people are naturally good at mentoring, but that it’s a skill that can be encouraged [1].
Investment Bank quote – for graduate entry a Mentor will be assigned to help guide you through your career path at the bank. This might be required by the banking regulators, who don’t want to see graduates making errors in large financial transactions [2].
United Kingdom Local government program – once supported by national government, took part in it for three years and met a wide mix of people, who have been mentored and helped with their business problems [3].
Business organisations who supply Mentors after one does their training course that cost about £10,000 and they help their registered Mentors obtain leads and work by being paid fees for Mentoring [4] and [5]. Both seem professional and well organised, with terms and conditions covering relationships with clients and professional conduct. |

Agreements can become a mine field of problems between parties, but plain English and following the golden engineering rule of KISS – Keep it simple and stupid helps to keep thinks going down the right road [6].
